Owatrol Dilunett is a water-based, solvent-free and paraffin-free gel stripper designed to soften and remove multiple layers of old coatings.

Its thick gel consistency helps the product remain in place on horizontal and vertical surfaces, making it particularly useful where a liquid stripper would run off too quickly.

Suitable for Antifouling Removal

Dilunett is particularly useful for boat maintenance because Owatrol specifically lists antifouling among the coatings it can remove.

Owatrol also states that Dilunett does not attack gelcoat, making it a useful option for appropriate stripping work on GRP boats when used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

How to Use

Apply a thick, even layer of Dilunett over the coating to be removed and allow sufficient time for the product to work.

The required working time will depend on factors such as the coating type, thickness and number of existing layers.

Check progress periodically with a scraper or spatula. Once the old coating has softened sufficiently, remove the loosened material and rinse the treated surface thoroughly with fresh water, following Owatrol’s application instructions.

If Dilunett begins to dry during treatment, it can be reactivated with water.

Important Surface Restrictions

Always carry out a test on a small, inconspicuous area before treating the complete surface.

Do not use Dilunett on aluminium.

Dilunett is also not suitable for every type of coating or substrate. Always check the current Owatrol technical instructions before application, particularly when dealing with specialist coatings or sensitive surfaces.

Using Dilunett on Wood

When Dilunett is used to strip wood, the surface requires an additional neutralising step.

After thoroughly rinsing away the Dilunett, Owatrol instructs users to apply Owatrol Net-Trol to the wet wood to neutralise the surface before proceeding with subsequent finishing work.

Dilunett is a corrosive product and must be handled appropriately.
