Description
The Ireland flag features a vertical tricolour of green, white, and orange and is used both as a courtesy flag by foreign vessels and as the national ensign by Irish-registered craft. Smaller sizes are commonly flown as courtesy flags when entering Irish waters, while larger sizes are suitable for display as the vessel’s national flag. Manufactured from marine-grade polyester, the flag is designed for durability and colour retention in marine environments. Courtesy flags should be flown from the starboard spreader or a designated courtesy flag halyard, while the national flag should be displayed at the stern or on a stern-mounted flagstaff in accordance with accepted maritime practice.
