Marine flag of Portugal suitable for use as a courtesy flag or as a national ensign, depending on size and application.

The Portugal flag features a vertical bicolour of green and red with the national coat of arms centred over the colour boundary and is used both as a courtesy flag by foreign vessels and as the national ensign by Portuguese-registered craft. Smaller sizes are commonly flown as courtesy flags when entering Portuguese waters, while larger sizes are suitable for display as the vessel’s national flag. Manufactured from marine-grade polyester, the flag is designed for durability, colour stability, and reliable performance in marine environments. Courtesy flags should be flown from the starboard spreader or a designated courtesy flag halyard, while the national flag should be displayed at the stern or on a stern-mounted flagstaff in accordance with established maritime practice.
